2025 in Review

2025 was a rough year in so many ways, but in between our two big trips, nature was what grounded us and brought us joy this year. You’ll notice that we’re getting more and more into birds (hey, birds are cool), but you’ll also find a collection of beautiful plants, mammals, and sea creatures below. We’re constantly grateful to live in this amazing place with all of its beauty and biodiversity.

In April, we went with some friends to stay at a beach house and attend the Grays Harbor Shorebird Festival. Between the fun birds, walks along the beach, and spending time with friends, it was an wonderful weekend.

We also spent time birding and looking for other animals closer to home over the summer. Discovery Park is always a favorite animal scouting location, and we found a new wetlands in the city.

For Memorial Day weekend, we went out to the Olympic Peninsula, where we spent some time exploring the northwest areas of the park. It’s an amazing place with so much diversity, and we also stopped by a cafe with a lot of fun animals.

In June, we went to the peninsula again, this time to board a birdwatching boat from Port Townsend to see tufted puffins, which we recently found out summer in the Puget Sound.

For the 4th of July weekend, we went camping in the North Cascades, where we haven’t spent that much time yet. It was a beautiful weekend, and we enjoyed all the amazing lakes and mountains.
